Prototype assembled

Custom electronics, off-the-shelf wheels and motors, 3D-printed sprockets and aluminium frame.

The concept of the KoumKoum is feasible!

May 2025

Market proof 

A small ad campaign on Reddit brings thousands of visitors on an early version of the KoumKoum website.

June 2025

SP-Locomotion SRL

The decision is made to make and commercialize the KoumKoum.

SP-Locomotion SRL, based in Brussels, is established.

July 2025

Electronics done

Cheaper, safer and better than in the prototype. Designed to be manufactured in Germany!

September 2025

Preorders start

E-Shop based on Odoo (Belgium), legal documents made by a Belgian law firm, online payments by Mollie (the Netherlands)

December 2025

Logistics

Assembly by a specialized Belgian company. Shipping by a Belgian e-fulfillment company.

We aim at thousands of preorders. They must be assembled and shipped by experts!

Battery status, remaining range, error messages, all in easy-to-understand text on the KoumKoum, translated to several European languages.

Some components only exist in China, because the raw materials are mined in China (batteries), or because the only companies making the components to the required specifications are Chinese (motors).

We currently envision about 30% of the raw material cost to be from China. If we factor in assembly (in Belgium), packaging in Belgium, shipping from Belgium, this proportion goes to about 20%. And this is without counting the VAT paid by the customer in their own country.
